How Does It Work ? Which is the right treatment for me?
Osteopathy is a manual therapy where the patient is touched by practitioners. With several techniques, it can reduce tension in the muscles, correct posture, and release trapped nerves caused by a mechanical issue (tenderness and inflammation of muscles and joints)
During an osteopathic session an osteopath can look at all your body and find any dysfunction and correct them before they turn into concerns and cause pain, therefore is quite good for postural checks as well.
The physical osteopathic manoeuvres improve the flexibility of the joints. Movement is essential to speed up the recovery.
Massage is again a part of manual therapy, where pressure with hands is applied to the muscles to relieve hypertonicity (when a muscle is very tight even if you are relaxed) and tenderness. A hypertonic muscle makes the part of your body more difficult to move (resistance to movement). Over time, hypertonicity can cause pain, inflammation, and muscle spasm.
In the end, you may just want a massage to relax, and escape the daily stress and your busy life for a little while.
“Rehab Session” has been thought of as a session for acute pain and inflammation. If there are no medical conditions that prevent the treatment from taking place, we will employ a combination of massage gun therapy and radio frequency. To learn more, visit our pages about Medical Devices and Pronexibus.
During the acute phase of the pain, you may not be able to move properly, limp, not able to sit or stand for long periods. The intensity of the inflammation may be so high to not allow us to deliver a more intense physical treatment. This is the case when using medical radio frequency and the massage gun can lead to good results.
The waves emitted by the Pronexibus stimulate the healing process of the cells, therefore can come in handy for other conditions such as bursitis, tendonitis, shoulder impingement or neuropathic pain.
The massage gun will help the Pronexibus reduce muscle tightness and stiffness and further speed up the recovery process.
During this session, you won’t be “physically touched” as much as osteopathy or massage due to your painful condition. Bear in mind that medical devices and especially the Pronexibus have not been created with a quick-fix mindset, it requires several sessions. From the evidence-based studies, remarkable results can be seen after 6 to 10 sessions, but it is often possible to feel improvements earlier.
At MiTo Healthcare Clinic, we noticed that a combination of different therapies can have some positive results from sessions 2 to 4, however, this is not a fixed rule and every single individual is different.
However, many conditions can be treated by osteopathy, by medical devices and sometimes massage can also help too, so how will you be able to decide?
Here are a few examples for you:
- Bursitis: this is an inflammation of the bursa, which is a sac-filled fluid structure that can be found in between your joints and bones. Bursa acts as a cushion for your muscles, bones, and tendons. Bursitis can occur generally due to the wear and tear process and repetitive strain and pressure on it. Bursitis generates swelling and increases its volume due to the inflammation because of that you will feel pain on movements. More often bursitis occurs in the hip, elbow, and shoulder. Mainly, bursitis can be treated by osteopathy, physiotherapy, and also chiropractic by using exercises and manual techniques to improve the functionality of the joints, improve mobility and reduce all the disturbances that put pressure on the bursa. However, regarding the inflammatory levels, using the Pronexibus will boost the recovery rate by acting on chemical and cellular levels to the inflammation process. In the end, if the bursitis is caused by repetitive motions performed at work or home, correcting posture and strengthening your affected joint will become necessary. A combination of osteopathy, medical device and exercise will be the preferred course of action.
- Chronic shoulder impingement syndrome: tendons inside your rotator cuff (muscle group presents in the shoulder) are chronically pinched by your shoulder joints due to repetitive motions, and because of that your muscle started to degenerate. An increase in blood flow to the muscles is required for the healing process, but after years of chronic injury, your muscles and tendons can be fibrotic and not as smooth as before. Therefore, in this case, just massage, stretching and osteopathic techniques may not be sufficient for your shoulder to heal, Pronexibus can play an important role for heal your tendon and muscle because it can act directly on the muscular cells and promote the healing process. As a chronic injury if it is caused by a mechanical issue (repetitive sports motions, postural imbalances, daily awkward posture at work) then a postural check and strengthening activities are required.
MiTo team want also to point out that these are guidelines and there are no fixed clinical outcomes and expectations, results may vary from the general rule of thumb written in this booking guide.
So, let’s summarize to make this easily comprehensible:
A) Osteopathy is suitable for patients who suffer from musculoskeletal conditions such as chronic low back pain, and who want to do a postural check. Osteopathy may also be able to help in case of acute pain or injury.
B) Pronexibus and massage gun can form a good combination for patients affected by acute conditions or inflammation processes such as bursitis, and tendonitis. Additionally, it can be helpful for chronic issues, such as tendinosis, where the Pronexibus will directly stimulate the tendons more than osteopathy alone.
C) Massage is suitable to relieve muscle tension, and lactic acid, improve flexibility and increase the blood flow to muscle and tendons to promote the healing process. It is generally a less long-term fix solution but is great for the maintenance of good health conditions, similar to osteopathy regarding the postural check. The pressure of a massage encourages a calming effect, making it suitable for use even if you’re not feeling any discomfort.
Here’s the end of our Booking Guide, MiTo team hope that this article helped you a bit to understand which is the right treatment for you. If you have any doubts please keep in touch as there is no better way to discuss this over the phone prior to your appointment. Thank you for your attention.

Packages "Rehab Session"
Do you think 6 or 10 sessions are too many? Why don’t share them with your beloved one or with your friend? 6 and 10-session packages of Osteopathy and Massage are shareable.
Remember that if we believe that sharing sessions with someone else will affect your clinical outcomes, you will be promptly informed by us.
We do not recommend sharing the Rehab Session as generally, you would need more than 2 sessions and therefore will affect negatively the clinical outcomes. If you know someone who can benefit from it, let us know and we will get in touch.
